Portrait of the Artist
Raised and currently
living in Amador County, I have chosen a
lifestyle surrounded by nature.
From the time I was a very young child,
my artistic curiosity and abilities were
nurtured by my parents. This
encouraged the growth of a rich and
rewarding imagination. When I was
not drawing pictures or acting out some
vivid image of myself as a wild animal, I
was roaming the cow pastures.
Overturning rocks, I investigated the
strange creatures concealed there, be
it salamander or scorpion. I
waded in creeks to catch frogs, tadpoles,
water bugs and turtles. Baby birds
fallen from their nest, lizards, mice and
bugs shared my natural world.
Bones, rocks fossils and crystals
fascinated me. I dreamt of
traveling to experience the magic of
Africa, the Amazon Basin and other wild
places.
As an adult, I still
revel in the beauty and spirituality of
nature. I feel that my spirit is
happily anchored to the earth, and my art
is an expression of this heartfelt
connectedness. It is also a token
of respect for the beauty of nature and
for its eternal truths.
